EU AI Act and new transparency guidelines move from legislation to implementation

The EU’s AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) has now entered its implementation phase, with supplementary regulations published on July 8, 2026 and European Commission guidelines on transparency obligations issued on July 20, 2026 to help providers and deployers meet requirements that start applying from August 2, 2026. The EU has also brought an ‘AI Omnibus’ package into force on July 27, 2026 to align sectoral rules.
