EU’s AI Omnibus eases some burdens but keeps near-term transparency obligations

The EU’s Digital Omnibus on AI entered into force on 27 July 2026, simplifying parts of the AI rulebook and extending some implementation timelines, especially for smaller businesses and high-risk stand-alone systems. At the same time, the Commission has published guidelines to help providers and deployers meet transparency obligations under the AI Act, which begin applying from 2 August 2026, including when users interact with AI systems.
