Model providers are moving into consulting territory
Axios reports that OpenAI’s deployment arm has agreed to acquire Northslope, an applied AI firm, marking its second enterprise-focused acquisition. The strategy is to not only provide models but also directly implement AI for customers, a role traditionally occupied by consulting and systems integration firms.
Position your firm as the independent orchestrator that can work across OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS, and others—owning the client’s AI operating model, governance, and integration while vendors provide components and narrow deployment services.
highIf clients buy AI platform plus implementation in a single commercial package from vendors, your firm can be left out of core architecture and execution decisions, reducing you to change‑management or staff augmentation at lower margins.
